Marcy O'Hara was born Marcella Louise Jonas on April 5, 1927 to Gustav and Helena Jonas of Indianapolis, IN. She was the 4th child of 6 children.
In 1933 she attended St. Theresa Little Flower Elementary School and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1944 in Indianapolis, IN. She fell in love and married Martin J. O'Hara on August 29, 1946 and moved to California. Marcy's life was spent devoted to her husband of 66 years and raising her five children. She worked for the Oakland Public School system for 23 years.
Marcy was deeply loved by her family and friends. She was so kind and thoughtful to everyone she would meet and always more concerned about others than herself. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Jarlath's Catholic Church in Oakland, CA. She loved family gatherings, lived to dance, played the piano, gardening her vegetables and flowers, enjoyed crocheting, liked to play the slot machines and feeding everyone. After their retirement, Marcy loved the getaways with Marty to their country property in Oroville, CA. Her children always said 'She Was an Angel, Here on Earth'. Marcy passed away on June 01, 2012.
Marcy was preceded in death by her father, Gustav Jonas, 46 in 1944, mother Helena Hornberger-Jonas, 60, in 1959, son Timothy M. O'Hara in 1947 and son Michael G. O'Hara in 1961. She is survived by her loving husband, Martin J. O'Hara of Oakland, CA; sister Laverne Mercurio of Clearwater, FL; children: Linda M. O'Hara-Scott and husband Chris of Eureka, CA, Diane L. O'Hara of Oakland, CA, Thomas M. O'Hara of Oakland, CA, Cheryl A. O'Hara of Fairfield, CA and Patrick J. O'Hara of Herald, CA.; five Grandchildren Shannon, Scott, Daniel, Joshua, Sean; four great-grandchildren Brendon, Ethan, Katelyn, and Nathan; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and was loved by so many others.
Her family and everyone who knew Marcy will truly miss her love, compassion and kindness. Her spirit will forever dwell within all of us. The O'Hara and Jonas families would like to thank everyone for their condolences, prayers, love and friendship with Marcy.
Marcy was diagnosed a few years prior to her death and suffered from Alzheimer's disease.

(The following prayer was prayed
on behalf of La Verne Mercurio at Marcella's funeral mass
By: Marcella's son Patrick J. O'Hara on 6-12-12)
A Night Prayer to our Mother
Night is falling dear Mother, long day is o'er;
Before thy image I am kneeling once more
To thank thee for keeping me safe this day,
To ask thee this night to keep evil
away.
Many times have I fallen Mother dear;
Many graces neglected since last I knelt here;
Wilt thou not in pity, my own Mother Mild,
Ask Jesus to pardon the sins of thy child?
I am going to sleep now, day's work is done;
Its hours and its moments have passed
one by one.
God Who will judge me, has counted them all;
He has numbered each grace, He has counted each fall;
In His book they are written against the last day.
Oh! Mother Ask Jesus to wash them
away.
For one drop of His Blood for sinners was spilt,
Is sufficient to cleanse the world of its guilt.
And if er' the dawn I should draw my last breath;
The sleep I take be the long sleep of death;
Be near me Mother for dear Jesus' sake.
When at eternity shore my soul shall awake.
Amen
Marcy was buried in the Pieta Section at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Hayward, CA on June 12, 2012
